Draft Vision Statement

Chesterfield will remain a rural community and a regional destination – rural character, quiet country living, dark skies. A place that is convenient to larger service centers but with improvements that will benefit our residents as well as visitors. Chesterfield provides a refuge from other places where people work or have lived in the past and needed enhancements to infrastructure, services, and social and cultural life will continue to make Chesterfield a great hometown.

Community connections fostered through improved communications and social connections – community meeting spaces, classes, events, community gatherings.

An important component of community is providing a broader range of housing options for longtime and new residents. New apartments/townhomes, conversion of existing large homes, and options specifically designed for seniors are important part of enabling continuity of community and providing opportunities for new community members and fresh energy, perspectives, and ideas.

Focus on natural resources, working lands and recreational opportunities for quality of life and business development options. Sidewalks in Town Center, walking and biking trails, trails that connect Town Center with other important destinations in the community, like the school, the Gorge, and other conservation lands and campgrounds.
